{{surface etymology}} or {{surface analysis}} (as the name suggests) is for showing the surface etymology of a term with prior wording. It can also be used for showing surface-analysed compounds (where no component is an affix), as an alternative to {{compound}} or {{affix}}. Categories are also added.

Parameters

• |hûr=1 — to uncapitalise the first letter.
• All parameters in {{affix}} except |langN=.
• One may call another type of word-formation using + and the name of the appropriate template, as listed here (shortcuts also work).
